Endless Ruffles Tutorial!

I've been asked about a pattern for the "Endless Ruffle" Maxi dress and intended to do the ruffled skirt with stays (individual strips to add ruffles to), but that just added more weight and extra fabric!  If you already have purchased my  Tea Party Dress Pattern and the  Petticoat Dress Pattern, with a few minor adjustments you can create your own "Endless Ruffle" Maxi Dress!

I recommend making the bodice of the Tea Party Dress first to make it easier to get the dress length you desire!
1.  If you prefer to make the straps tie around the neck rather than fixed (both ways will work) simply make the Tea Party Dress straps longer by adding approximately 15 inches to the length. Right sides together, fold straps in half lengthwise and stitch creating a point at one short end. Clip a small triangle from each corner.

2: Try the finished bodice on your child and measure how long the skirt should be. Compare your measurement to the finished dress measurements on the Petticoat Dress pattern and find the skirt measurement that is closest to the length you need.  Add extra inches to the underskirt of the Petticoat dress if necessary. When laying out your ruffles, overlap them by approximately 1 1/2". Add extra ruffles if necessary. Cut the top ruffle the width of the underskirt (do not gather).
